Zanzibar Art House: A Stunning Gallery Set Amidst Lush Ricefields
Like many of Ubud's other expat residents, Australians Tim & Christine Hingston fell in love with the town on their first visit. As lifelong creatives, the artistic vibe was perfect for them and it became their dream to have a house in Ubud with a studio and gallery showing a varied selection of local artists' work and crafts. Out of this dream, and named after a memorable trip together, Zanzibar Art House was born.
If you're feeling the creative spirit of Ubud, Zanzibar Art House is a beautiful place to spend some time. The space has a very welcoming, homey feeling and may give you some inspiration for your own creative work. As this is also Christine and Tim's home, you may find them around the gallery or garden. They enjoy sharing their experiences in Ubud and showing visitors around the gallery, so don't hesitate to say hi.
Christine and Tim have curated a beautiful selection of works in their garden gallery. From ceramics, paintings and jewellery, photographs and crafts, there are so many beautiful items on show.
Key themes in many of the works are natural landscapes, organic abstracts and figurative paintings revolving around the Balinese lifestyle. The couple's love for Bali and its people is easy to see reflected the choice of images shown in the gallery and the locally made crafts they have chosen to sell.
