In recent decades Ubud has been globally celebrated as a town centred around wellness, healing and yoga. But what many people don't know is that before the Eat, Pray, Love-ification of Ubud, it was originally a thriving community of creatives, artists and artisans that shaped the landscape of the town we love! Post-pandemic we are starting to see a resurgence in the celebration of the amazing creatives based in, and hailing from, Ubud.

The inaugural Ubud Open Studios is an event that is putting the artists of Ubud back on the map! Over two-days (October 14th & 15th), more than 50 creatives will open the doors of their studios to the public for a sneak peak into their creative processes, philosophies, techniques and works in progress. Attendees can curate their own tours to visit the studios of; painters, illustrators, architects, interior designers, photographers, jewellers, glass blowers, ceramicists, textile designers, costume makers, leatherworkers, carvers and more!

The creators of Ubud Open Studios (Elami & Co.) have worked hard to curate a selection of the finest artists in town for this showcase. Participants can devise their own itinerary of studio tours, or be guided by the pathways offered based on interest (e.g. women owned studios, wearable design, performance arts, traditional & contemporary Balinese arts etc.). The masters of their crafts will be in-house at each location, enabling participants the rare opportunity to engage with the artists in their own unique setting.

There is an incredible selection of artists on the lineup for this years Ubud Open Studios, some of which include; Ongky Wijana the talented stone carver, Budi Boleng's glasswork, Mistresses of Metal jewelry design duo, Candylcker the vibrant painter, Rizal Hadi bamboo instrument builder, Nyoman Astawa sculture and many more! With such an array of talent on offer, attendees' only challenge will be fitting as many visits as possible into a 48-hour period!
