Kyoka Japanese Kitchen: Homestyle & Modern Japanese Food in Ubud
Serving Kyoto homestyle and Modern Japanese food, Kyoka Ubud is asaddition to Ubud food scene from the talented team at at Ibu Susu Bar & Kitchen on Jalan Monkey Forest. Which, if you follow our instagram, you’ll know is one of our favourite hangs in the hood. So we’re very excited they have chosen to spread their talents even wider in the town and bring us Kyoka, their Japanese-infused sister restaurant!
Think chicken yakitori, tempura, sashimi and homestyle sushi. Satiate your rumbling belly with a killer noodle dish like their Nabeyaki Udon and Soba Noodle salad with sesame dressing all beautifully presented in artisanal ceramics from Japan. They also have a delicious range of flavoursome burgers (teriyaki chicken, soft shell crab or tempura fish)!
There is a level of sophistication at Kyoka, but these guys don’t take themselves too seriously and like to maintain a sense of humour. This is evident throughout their signature cocktail menu with drinks like Wax on Wax off, Kawaii Kid and our favourite Sayonara Motherf#*ka!!!
Kyoka’s cocktail menu has been thoughtfully crafted by Ketut (co-owner of the restaurant), who is arguably one of the best bartender/mixologists on the island! The eclectic range of cocktails utilises a lot of local ingredients, high-quality spirits and some Japanese inspired concoctions.
This is a Japanese Restaurant in Ubud not to miss! With a Family connection to Japan for over 40 years Kyoka’s owners are extremely passionate about Japanese food, art and culture. This is evident not only in the edible and drinkable parts of the business but also the interior design which is contemporary with antique and vintage Japanese features. Throw it on your list of must-eats when you come through the hood- it’s only a short walk from the soccer field on Jalan Dewi Sita, in the centre of town!
