Firefly Eco-Lodge ubud: accommodation for the adventurous nature lover

Firefly Eco-Lodge is a short hike through the rice fields. Surrounded by nature, these uncommon sleeping experiences are for the proven adventure seeker. While only a short walk or drive to central Ubud, they are tucked away in secluded fields and offer an exotic jungle retreat to those looking to get as close to nature as possible. With numerous styles of rooms available, Firefly Eco-Lodge is more than just accommodation, it is an experience.

Despite the hike from the road to the main accommodation, there is no need for the over-packer to fret. The welcoming staff are ready and willing to carry your bags through the rice-fields as you enjoy the scenic journey on foot.

If you return from town after dark, they’ll ensure you get back to your room safely. Mobile phones are on loan to guests for the duration of their stay so they can keep in touch with staff to request assistance, book massages and ask questions.

A large common living room overlooks the rice-fields with a pool and iconic swing for those dreamy holiday snaps. Built largely from recycled materials the space is truly one of a kind, and invites guests to get to know one another and share their holiday experiences. Tasty vegetarian breakfasts that go beyond the standard hotel breakfast and are complimentary to some rooms or alternately available for only $3 per day.

There are four main kinds of accommodation at Firefly Eco Lodge:

Birds Nest Accommodation

The Birds Nest is four bamboo woven pods, each one piled on another… yes, literal stacked nests! Each nest is open to the elements, with no doors, and sleeps two people.

Not for the light sleeper or those with a fear of heights, as you have to climb bamboo ladders to reach the top three nests. You may be sharing your lush jungle views with a bug or two, but nature fanatics rave that the Birds Nest is an incredible and unique experience you won’t forget. Lockers are provided in a communal lounge area on the ground floor, which is a great space to meet fellow travelers. The bathroom is semi-outdoors and is equipped with hot water. There is even a large bathtub surrounded by a bamboo pod that you can relax in, and at night it offers a view of the stars.

Eco Cottage

This serene and seriously secluded bamboo cottage is found at the end of a foot path through the rice fields. Picture a quaint house with a straw roof nestled in between palm trees and rice fields and you’re home.

Step inside to an open-air basket woven bedroom, complete with a tiny loft tucked high above the bed. Modern luxury meets outdoor living. An elegant bathroom is found at the back of the cottage. Wake up to a complimentary breakfast served on your patio overlooking the gorgeous landscape. You also have access to a complete menu of traditional Balinese meals. The common area with the pool and swing are only a short walk away.

Tree House

Made almost completely out of bamboo, this two-story house has a dining den tucked next to an organic garden. Upstairs, you’ll find an open-air bedroom, furnished with an antique queen bed and canopy mosquito net, all overlooking the quiet rice fields.

You’ll shower under the stars in your open garden bathroom, outfitted with a rain shower and unique hand-blown glass sink.

Airconditioned Retreat Rooms

If you like the idea of spending your holiday secluded in nature and the rice-fields, but want a few more creature comforts, these are your rooms!

Attached to the common living areas, these rooms are seriously stylin! With mod polished concrete walls, designer outdoor bathrooms and air-conditioning. Two of the four retreat rooms on offer even feature extra beds in a loft space if you want to share with friends.
