Janet DeNeefe’s Long Table Dinners return in a celebration of dishes from the fabled spice islands. Just back from Banda Neira, she will share

her story of sailing on the high seas to a fascinating yet little known part of Indonesia, with images and food to match. This year, Banda Neira commemorate350 years of the signing of the Treaty of Breda, an agreement between the Dutch and the English, that resulted in the famous exchange of the island of Run with Manhattan. The Banda Islands, Maluku, are located in the Banda Sea, east of Bali. Until the mid-19th century these islands were the world‘s only source of mace and nutmeg.

The feast will feature exotic dishes from the Banda Islands combined with local Balinese favourites that focus on native plants, heritage ingredients, flowers and fruits, on the terrace at Indus Restaurant under the stars.

In this relaxed, intimate gathering you will get the chance to meet Janet, considered Australia’s leading expert on Indonesian food, make new friends and bond over a love of Indonesian food.

The cost of three courses is Rp. 290,000 per person and includes lemongrass-scented fish soup, kenari nut gado-gado, Banda-style acar, almond hummus with eggplant, snapper in light turmeric broth, green amaranth, slow-cooked jackfruit, fresh torch ginger sambal and coconut desserts.

Numbers are limited and a recipe booklet is included in the price.
