Tegenungan Waterfall
Jalan Ir. Sutami Sukawati Bali 80582 ID

Tegenungan, also known as Ubud’s beach (well, that’s what we call it) is the closest waterfall to central Ubud. Grab a coconut and head on down to the rocky shoreline to bask in the vast power of mother nature, as the falls roar over the cliff face above. Situated in a lush enclave surrounded by the lushest of jungles and trickling spring water, Tegenungan is picture perfect. Beneath her mighty roar tourists are welcome to swim in the lagoon-like pool that forms at the base of the falls (please discern whether you think it’s the right day for a swim, as the waterfall is particularly strong after heavy rains).

If you’re not game to take a dip you can bathe in the holy spring water that trickles alongside the waterfall. The water runs from bamboo pipes into small streams below; wash your face and your head three times each and feel your worries fade away. More adventurous souls can climb up the side of the falls for additional snaps at varying views. Tegenungan is great place for a holiday happy-snaps, but make sure you put the camera down for a minute and appreciate the power of the epic jungle that surrounds you.

The waterfall is located south-east of Ubud, about a 20 minute drive from the centre of the hood. There are a few touristy shops as you walk towards the jungle. and a decent descent on your way down to the falls, but it is fine for the average fitness level. The earlier you get there, the more secluded the falls.

An almighty waterfall a 20-minute drive from the centre of the hood. We call it Ubud Beach! Read more…
